"Blue Box Ghetto"

The population of Peru was approximately 6 million at the time of the Spanish occupation. By the end of the sixteenth century, there were little more than one million. Then, a century later there were only 600,000 people. It took a dramatic decline in the death rate to again reach 6 million in the twentieth century.
