Item# m-3

This woman is standing in the Mayan produce market in Antigua. This market features a wide variety of produce. Ancient Mayan markets were similar to the Mayan markets of today. They were crowded, noisy, and the air was filled with many exotic smells. Items such as honey, cotton textiles, tobacco, vanilla, vegetable dyes, tortoise shells, exotic feathers (quetzal feathers were highly prized), flints, fruits and vegetables, pottery, turquoise, gold, copper, salt, pearls, stingray spines, and jaguar and ocelot skins were readily available. Also, you could get a meal and a haircut.
